Cascade Locks is the western end of the Gorge, in Hood River County, about 1,400 people on the river where the Bridge of the Gods crosses to Washington. It is the closest Gorge town to Portland, which shapes almost everything about who buys here.
Some of that is people leaving the metro for a smaller place with the freeway still at hand. Some of it is recreation: the river, the trails, and the through-traffic of a town on the Pacific Crest Trail.
