Scenic View Drive loops around Sorosis Park up in the central heights, and it functions like its own little neighborhood even though it is technically just a street.

The heights feel, without the new-build price

People usually come to Scenic View after looking at Park Place. Same part of town, same air up top, same walk to the park, but the homes are not all from one builder and one decade, so the range of what you can spend is much wider. That makes it the more accessible way onto the heights, and for a lot of first-time buyers it is the version that actually pencils.

What the street gives you

Sorosis Park sits in the middle of the loop, so you are never more than a few minutes from grass, shade and the viewpoint over the river. The new Tree Top Playpark opened there in January 2025, paid for with a state parks grant and a community fundraising push that together ran past a million dollars, and it turned the park into a destination rather than just the green space at the end of your street. You can walk to the overlooks. You can walk to the blocks next door. Kids on this street get the thing that is getting rare, which is somewhere to go on foot without an adult driving them there. Colonel Wright Elementary is the elementary school serving this area and is close by. Attendance boundaries are the district's call, so confirm the specific address with North Wasco County School District 21.

Reading the housing stock

Because Scenic View was not built all at once, two homes a hundred yards apart can be completely different purchases. One has been updated to the studs, the next has original everything and a price that reflects it. I would rather walk both with you than let a listing photo make that call. Ask me what has sold on the loop in the last year: that spread is the most useful number you can have going in.

Who it fits

Families who want the park and the walkability. Downsizers who raised kids in this town and are not leaving the heights for anything. Buyers who love what Park Place offers but want the money to go further, or want a yard with some room in it. It is one of the streets I bring up the most, and it is one of the least talked about outside of town.
